All physiotherapists that work at Neurological Rehabilitation Group (NRG) have a special interest in the neurological field. Our physiotherapists will want to know your journey, understand your goals and your unique situation so they can help you on your rehabilitation experience. We will observe the tasks and functions that are difficult for you to carry out and then we will use our analytical and clinical reasoning skills to diagnose what needs to change for you to achieve the outcome you want. We are a ‘hands on’ practice meaning, we train our physiotherapists to use their hands to feel and facilitate when diagnosing and treating, where appropriate.

Our highly trained team of exercise physiologists all have experience in managing neurological conditions and are dedicated to improving patient outcomes. Specialising in clinical exercise, our exercise physiologists are trained to prescribe personalised exercise interventions designed to enhance function, mobility, and overall well-being for those with acute, progressive and acquired neurological conditions. Exercise has been demonstrated to support symptom management and may help slow the progression of certain degenerative neurological disorders. At Neurological Rehabilitation Group, our exercise physiology services include individualised assessments and sessions, home visits, and group classes, all tailored to address each patient's individual needs.

Spasticity is one of the most commonly reported impairments that result from an injury of damage to the brain or spinal cord. It is the stiffness or increased resistance in muscles which is more pronounced when the limb is moved quickly. This can affect how someone moves, functions, is able to clean or wash a body part, or even walk safely.

At Neurological Rehabilitation Group, we are invested in delivering exceptional care to our patients. Central to this goal is our collaborative relationships with various community service providers. We partner with Head to Foot Orthotics (based in the Eastern and South-eastern suburbs of Melbourne) for a monthly clinic that is jointly run by a senior orthotist and senior physiotherapist.

Our expert team evaluates each client’s unique needs and goals for their seating system, providing tailored recommendations for wheelchair prescription or modification. We support clients throughout the entire process, including postural assessment, wheelchair fitting, and trials both at our clinic and in the client’s home. Additionally, we can assist in completing reports for funding bodies, such as the NDIS, to facilitate wheelchair funding.

Within our large physiotherapy team is a sub team specially trained to assess and manage vestibular disorders. Our vestibular physiotherapists start by understanding the nature of your symptoms and history and then complete an initial bedside assessment utilising equipment such as video goggles to allow us to better analyse your vestibular system and its functioning.
