Booth & Vincent Research Scholarship

Neurological Rehabilitation Group offers the Booth and Vincent research scholarship, which allows a current clinician or group of clinicians to pursue a relevant project of interest which will also benefit the clientele of the practice. The intention of the scholarship is to support the successful applicant/s to further their own development and contribute to the wider community through research and provides them with opportunities to present and publish their work to peers and possibly in the wider community.

Senior physiotherapists, Meg and Alex, were the successful applicants for the inaugural Booth and Vincent research scholarship and are working closely with Dr Justin Fong, a mechanical engineer from The University of Melbourne. Their project is looking at validating the primary spatiotemporal measurements of Dr Fong's Gait Aid Monitor (a device integrated entirely within a gait aid) in overground walking tests compared to the ‘gold standard’ gait laboratory analysis system. Meg and Alex are also keen to explore how measurements made with the Gait Aid Monitor device during client’s everyday lives may be used to inform clinical decision-making and explore how this information can be presented to clinicians and patients to best inform their recovery.
