Vestibular Physiotherapy Service
Within our large physiotherapy team is a sub team specially trained to assess and manage vestibular disorders. Our vestibular physiotherapists start by understanding the nature of your symptoms and history and then complete an initial bedside assessment utilising equipment such as video goggles to allow us to better analyse your vestibular system and its functioning. This assists us in diagnosing the cause of the dizziness and developing a tailored management plan, which may include specific repositioning manoeuvres, a vestibular rehabilitation program or referral to other clinicians as indicated.
At Neurological Rehabilitation Group we have an upskilling program for our internal staff which is an intensive training program for staff to become competent in this area. Physiotherapists are required to understand the anatomy and functionality of the vestibular system, the pathologies associated with the system and how to assess and manage the various pathologies. Our vestibular team regularly provide education to other physiotherapy clinics on vestibular management.
