Why is appropriate seating important? 

Appropriate seating directly influences comfort, mobility, independence, and overall quality of life, while also preventing secondary complications such as pressure sores, musculoskeletal issues, and pain associated with poorly fitting systems. We are therefore passionate in helping our clients find the most appropriate seating system for them.

What is the Posture and Seating Clinic at NRG? 

At the Neurological Rehabilitation Group, we conduct a monthly Posture and Seating Clinic led by our trained therapists skilled in performing comprehensive seating assessments. We focus specifically on clients with neurological conditions, recognizing the vital role that proper posture and seating play in this population. 

Our expert team evaluates each client’s unique needs and goals for their seating system, providing tailored recommendations for wheelchair prescription or modification. We support clients throughout the entire process, including postural assessment, wheelchair fitting, and trials both at our clinic and in the client’s home. Additionally, we can assist in completing reports for funding bodies, such as the NDIS, to facilitate wheelchair funding. 

At NRG we have strong working relationships with a number of wheelchair providers giving access to a wide range of both off-the-shelf and customized products.  Through the posture and seating clinic we are able to link you in with an appropriate wheelchair representative based on your needs, or work with a provider of your choice.
