NEUROLOGICAL PHYSIOTHERAPY
All physiotherapists that work at Neurological Rehabilitation Group (NRG) have a special interest in the neurological field. Our physiotherapists will want to know your journey, understand your goals and your unique situation so they can help you on your rehabilitation experience. We will observe the tasks and functions that are difficult for you to carry out and then we will use our analytical and clinical reasoning skills to diagnose what needs to change for you to achieve the outcome you want. We are a ‘hands on’ practice meaning, we train our physiotherapists to use their hands to feel and facilitate when diagnosing and treating, where appropriate.
Assessments are completed in a safe and supported environment, with family and/or support people welcomed to be part of the process in assisting you to achieve your therapy goals. Every step of the way, your neurological physiotherapist will help you better understand your presenting condition, and provide a clear, honest, and transparent explanation of what potential changes can be made and what further input and management to expect. Your physiotherapist will, with your consent, also remain in regular contact with other health professionals that are managing your condition including neurologist, general practitioner, carers, other team members and allied health staff.
All our physiotherapists are supported by physiotherapy leaders with monthly clinical supervision and regular double sessions to ensure that we are facilitating the team in their career and delivering the best standard of assessment and management for which we are known. We have a strong team-based approach at Neurological Rehabilitation Group and have a strong ethos of supporting each other and our patients. We believe that two sets of eyes, hands and brains can help improve the standard of care for our patients. Often patients require extra physical support to get the best out of their treatment. Sharing knowledge can help our clinical reasoning and improve our patient outcomes. So, it is not unusual for two clinicians to be working with one patient.
At Neurological Rehabilitation Group we have a variety of treatment approaches to apply to different individuals with different presentations. We believe in having a wide variety of ‘tools in the tool box’ to be able to use in different situations. Our senior staff are trained across a variety of skill sets and approaches which filters through the clinical team and is accessible to all our patients.
