NEUROLOGICAL PILATES
Neurological Pilates involves combining traditional principles of Pilates, including movement integration, body alignment and breath awareness, with the principles of neurological rehabilitation focusing on neuroplasticity and motor learning. All exercises are tailored to our clients based on their condition and ability.
We use Pilates exercises to help achieve functional goals and strengthen neural pathways by specific targeted movements / exercises. All exercises are closely monitored by a trained therapist during each session and feedback is given to optimize posture, body alignment and performance.
Neurological Pilates can include using specialized equipment, such as a reformer or a Wunda Chair. We are fortunate at NRG to have access to these across all our clinical sites. Pilates may also involve mat work on the floor, however if this is difficult for you our therapists can support you to exercise on one of our higher plinth beds. Our clinical team have completed in house training on this equipment and some therapists have completed further certification through APPI, Polestar and KX Pilates.
