HYDROTHERAPY
Hydrotherapy, refers to physiotherapy or exercise physiology treatment being carried out in warm water, where the properties of water are utilised to achieve specific, therapeutic goals. Hydrotherapy can provide patients with the opportunity to move more easily in the water, can assist with pain control, and, due to the buoyancy of water, can provide the opportunity for our patients to complete weight bearing activities, including balance retraining, not possible on land. Following a comprehensive assessment by an physiotherapist or exercise physiologist, hydrotherapy can be a wonderful adjunct to gym, or home based therapy and exercise programs.
If considered safe and appropriate by your medical and treating team, NRG is able to provide hydrotherapy services to patients across various conditions and functional levels. Once a comprehensive risk assessment and medical clearance form has been completed, this service can be provided in an appropriate public hydrotherapy pool, selected based on location, facilities available or a combination of both of these factors.
At NRG we have a broad knowledge of the pools and facilities available across metropolitan Melbourne. When required, comprehensive carer training can be completed in the pool to allow our patients to access the pool outside of therapy, with the support of their care team. Independent hydrotherapy programs can be prescribed, reviewed and progressed as able.
