Over the weekend, Practice Principal Katie Davies and Senior Physiotherapist Amy Blencowe took off on a big jet plane and travelled to the University of Newcastle. Here they attended the annual Neuro-Otology Society of Australia’s Clinical and Scientific Meeting. Neuro-Otology relates to neurological disorders of the inner ear (vestibular system). The three day conference featured Australian and International key-note speakers as well as a clinical training component to put theory into practice! Presentations ranged from detailed physiology of the vestibular system right through to the latest innovations in vestibular & balance assessment and rehabilitation. Increasing clinical interest in this field saw around 100 neuro-otologists, physiotherapists, audiologists, scientists as well as ear nose & throat surgeons attend the meeting. The diversity of attendees also provided a fantastic opportunity to meet, share knowledge and discuss ideas with other clinicians of similar interest. We look forward to continued research and developments in this field and being able to provide quality evidence-based treatment to our clients suffering from complex vestibular conditions.
